The scope of theoretical and pratical research
covers: - modern
methods of constructing and maintaining infrastructure networks (sewage,
water supply and gas) - in particular methods not involving excavation; - computer
aided design of infrastructure networks; - methods of
surveying, describing and assessing the state of sewage pipes, strategies for
their exploitation and technical repair, data bases on networks; -
constructions used in communal infrastructure, both under construction and
already existing (e.g.: containers, sewage treatment and water processing
plants, drains and subterranian pipes, constructions within networks,
multi-conduit tunnels); -
subterranean urban constructions, both under construction and already
existing (underground car parks and garages, pedestrian underpasses,
passages, communication tunnels, metro); - the repair
and conservation of existing subterranean constructions – including their
construction and insulation. The group carries out research and other commissions
on behalf of industry and various national organisations. It also cooperates
with firms offering services in the field of urban civil engineering, as well
as offering technical advice, expert inspections, studies and design. The
group includes certified construction engineers and building experts. When
required, experts from other fields join the research team according to the
needs of a specific problem. At present, the group is headed by Prof. Cezary
Madryas, a nationally certified building expert (in the field of general
constructions and subterranian urban infrastructure constructions, listed in
position 108/97 of the National Register of Building Experts and position
2/97/RZ of the Regional Register in Wrocław, Region of Lower Silesia). The promotion and implementation of modern
technology and technical solutions in civil engineering, together with
enabling the flow of information between academics and engineers in the
construction industry, are among the most important tasks and goals of the
group. The organisation of an annual one day meeting and a larger two day
conference, which occurs every three years, is aimed at achieving these
goals. These meetings take place each November at The members
